As we grow older, we seldom take the time to reminisce about our childhood memories and the importance that they had on our lives. While reading Now, Can I Lick the Spoon? I was taken back to a place that was long-forgotten and reminded me of the importance of traditions, both new and old, and the impact that they have on our lives.
Thank you, Theresa Thompson, for bringing us a glimpse into your life as we marinate on creating new memories with our loved ones.
It’s a recipe for success!
Theresa Thompson grew up during the struggle for civil rights in the United States. For her, good food represented joy, happiness, and togetherness, creating a powerful bond between family and friends.
In Now, Can I Lick the Spoon? she shares memories of that tumultuous time and of finding safe harbor in the strength of loved ones. Through the inclusion of the many treasured recipes that brought her own family together, Thompson seeks to inspire readers to continue to connect and fortify the ties that bind.
Theresa is a lifelong born-and-bred native of Indianapolis, Indiana. She studied and graduated with a certification in surgical technology and worked as a surgical technologist for forty years before refocusing (i.e., retiring).
Her love of cooking prompted her to attend the Arts Institute International Cooking School, as she puts it, to “learn and understand the ‘language’ of cooking,” where she earned a certification in culinary arts.
Theresa went on to use her skills and certifications as a caterer, personal chef, and culinary instructor for the Cooking Matters program of the Indy Hunger Network, an organization dedicated to addressing and providing solutions for underserved populations in the Indianapolis community.
Her passion for cooking enables her to view food as art, as well as healing for the body.
Theresa has been married to Harold Thompson for over forty years. They have one daughter and two sons. They are proud grandparents of two grandsons. Theresa’s best times are those spent with her family and friends.
She believes in staying physically fit and does so by regular workout sessions at the gym, walking, and biking, as well as practicing healthy nutritional habits.
